THE FRWND INVITES YOU FOR A PANEL DISCUSSION OF

"THE LEGACY OF SOCIALISM IN MIAMI"

  fEATURING  SPECIAL guests

Colonel Johnny de la cruz

U.S. Army colonel,  President, Bay of Pigs Veterans Association of the Brigade 2506

Brigade 2506 was the name given to a CIA-sponsored group of Cuban exiles formed in 1960 to attempt the military overthrow of the Cuban government headed by Fidel Castro.  It carried out the abortive Bay of Pigs invasion landings in Cuba on  April 17, 1961.

Sylvia Iriondo

President to M.A.R for Cuba (Mothers & Women against Repression)

Sylvia G. Iriondo arrived in the United States in 1960 as a Cuban political refugee. She is President of M.A.R. por Cuba (Mothers & Women against Repression), a non-profit 501C3 organization, dedicated to the promotion of democratic values and fundamental rights and liberties for the Cuban people, under a brutal communist regime since 1959. Iriondo has devoted her life to the cause of a free Cuba and has traveled the world raising her voice to denounce systematic violations of human rights in Cuba and crimes against humanity perpetrated by the dictatorship, as well as to enlist solidarity and support for the oppressed Cuban people.

On February 24, 1996, she was aboard one of three Brothers to the Rescue small planes in the Straits of Florida on a search and rescue flight as a volunteer spotter of Cubans escaping the island in search for freedom. Her small plane was the only one that returned to base on that day. Cuban Migs, under orders of dictators Fidel Castro and his brother Raul Castro, were dispatched to hunt and shootdown the planes in international airspace, which resulted in the massacre of three American citizens and one legal United States resident.
